Hi my name is Reena Rai and I am a founder of miss transqueen India which is the first ever for trans-women in India. I have been working LGBTQ community for 5 years now and I have an NGO called Deepa Ardnareshwar Empowerment Foundation where I am working for the empowerment of LGBTQ and we have a project called “We Are Your Strength” through which we go to schools, colleges, educational institutions, corporate and you know private clubs like rotary clubs and sensitize people about gender equality.

 

Hi ! Weall know that you had a tough journey and it still on, any particular incidentyou want to tell us?

Ya, there are many stub situation when i working with miss transqueen in India but I still remember one which is very close to my heart so initially jab mene audition start kare aur maine audition ke liye sari booking done Kar li thi manipur ke andar aur har cheez done ho chuki thi but Mera air ticket Hona Baki tha aur usi din mere ko call aaya ki aapki beti ki fees Nahin bhari gayi hai aur then I realise that whether I can pay the fees or I can book the ticket and I am very emotional at that moment of time because

mujhe aisa laga ki shayad ye Jo Mera passion hai yah Jo Mera junoon hai kuchh Karke dikhane ka LGBTQ ke liye woh shayad mere Ghar wale yah meri family ko effect kar raha hai but you know kehte Hain ki jab aap Mann se kuch karna chahte hain to bhagwan bhi aapka sath dete Hain and jis din yah hua Uske dusre din mere husband ko ek nai job offer ki gyi, he took that job best part ye tha With me at that time my husband got the advance salary and it was his way showing that whatever you doing, doing right and he says that I am with you, ye incident hone ke bad mujhe aur bhi strongly believe hone laga I am here for a cause and I am sent by him for a cause and have to complete this work aur bhagwan mere sath definitely mene Puri Jaan laga de is kam ko karne ke liye on every step I felt that whenever you have good intention whenever you determined to do something god is always there for help you.

 

You areworking hard to change the mindset of the society any changes which you couldsee?

I am so happy to to tell you that there are changes you know we were very scared about talk about LGBTQ issues previously ham khul ke Uske bare mein kisi se baat bhi nahin kar sakte the lekin aaj main aapko yah batate hue bahut fakhr mahsus kar rahi hun, ki hamesha mujhe invite kiya jata hai, school se college se aur woh chahte Hain ki main wahan jaaun unse baat karun unko bataun apna experience aur share karun inspire karun aur logon ko cheez ke liye kam karne ke liye which itself I see a big change in India, jahan log is bare mein baat karne se darte the aaj vahan me school aur college mein jakar bacchon se Uske bare mein baat kar rahi hun definitely yah bahut bada positive change hai towards the inclusive society .

 

Your company's name is dream catcher tell us about your dream?

I have a dream of having an inclusive society where people will live without fear of being judge on the basis of gender and also I have a dream to see my LGBTQ friends choosing their life partner according to their choice not others choice and live happily after.

 

Howdifferent is a life of heart transgender in India and or any other country?

Not difficult for trans-women in India but also trans-woman for all over around the world I got to meet lot of trans-women miss international queen where I realize transphobia is not just a national issue. It’s an international issue which has to be addressed by the international agency and I believe things will change gender sensitization become a part of education curriculum all over around the world then only we will be able to teach the right thing at the right age by seeding a positive thoughts in our youth and in our kids that LGBTQ is not different from us they are people only so I believe education system is the only and the first step the inclusive society and not only in India it should be included as a part of education curriculum but internationally also the gentle sensitization should become most important part of the education system then the things will change.
