INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY

Image
International Dance Day , marked by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The event takes place every year on 29 April, which is the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810), the creator of modern ballet. Its a mission to inspire new talents, and promote international exchange in the field of performing arts. Its a day of celebration of the value and importance of the art form. Here’s a list of films based on dance. FOOTLOOSE 1984 One of the greatest dancing stories of all time is about a town where dancing is not allowed. Not only will this movie inspire you to take dance lessons, you’ll also be singing the songs on the soundtrack for the rest of your life. DIRTY DANCING 1987 The be-all  of dance movies, Dirty Dancing is the story of Frances “Baby” Houseman, who has the time of her life with Johnny Castle, the dance instructor at the resort where her family is spending the summer. WORLD BOOK DAY

Image
“A room without books is like a body without a soul.” ― Marcus Tullius Cicero Books act as a window to the outside world which lies beyond one’s tangible reach as author Jhumpa Lahiri says 'That's the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet'' . Reading words on paper stimulate one’s imagination rather than passively watching a visual. There is something  therapeutic about the actual feel of a book, with its scent of printed pages and glossy covers. By the mid-15th century, the printing press revolutionized books to become what they are today and made them readily accessible for everyone. Thanks to this ingenious invention we are able to enjoy the prose and poetry of countless authors and poets — from Shakespeare and Tolstoy to George R.R. Martin. April 23rd was chosen as World Book Day because it coincided with the death anniversary of the bard himself- William Shakespeare along with prominent authors like Miguel de Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso

WORLD EARTH DAY

Image
“ Yours off too ?” shouted Mr Verma from his balcony to which Mr Gupta replied with a sigh “yes!”. The Mehras were strolling on their sprawling terrace as I kept staring blank into space with a frown on my forehead. The power failure made me see the actual faces of my neighbours for the first time. The power failure made me lift my head to admire the beauty of the evening sky instead of the usual bow onto my phone screen, causing neck pain. The power failure reminded me how beautiful a bird’s chirping is. When was the last time you connected with nature or cared about it? Our rapid lifestyles characterised by technology, monetary success and materialistic greed has made us forgetful of our planet and its preservation. World Earth Day celebrated every year on 22nd April is a reminder to work towards sustainable development aimed at preserving the only planet we have supporting life. Human race has come a long way and shall continue to prosper and advance and rightly so, but all of thi

MANOJ BAKSHI , a senior actor, kya aap satisfied hain as an actor? ya abhi bahut kutch karney ki ichha hai? koi aisa specific character jo aap karna chahte hai? Insaan ka satisfied hona insaan ke andar hota hai. whatever you get from the god you should be satisfied. or rahi acting ki baat jitna mene theatre me kiya hai abhi uska 5% bhi mene films me nahi diya hai that means not much to be explore 95% acting mene films me ki hi nahi because films ke andar its depends ke kesa scenario hai film me kon- kon actor hai, or it is director’s media, chahenge to kaat denegy apka scene, chahenge to rakh lenge , or bhoot kuch depened karta hai isiliye theatre ke accordingly never satisfied with a role getting, rahi baat jiska role jiska mujhe pasand hai CID ke roles, CID , CBI, investigation roles, so wo mujhe milenegey to badi khushi hoti hai, Otherwise i'm comfortable with all types of roles given to me because mene 20 years ka teatre kiya hua hai, or jo theatre person hote hai to wo new new

JALLIANWALA BAGH- A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

Image
Jallianwala Bagh , one of the most famous tourist site in Amritsar, is much more than just that. The walls, gates and every inch of the garden conceals in it history of a tormented past. On a winter afternoon I walked through the gate of the garden which opened into a narrow passage where the description of the massacre was inscribed on the side walls, a massacre that killed more than 300 people on 13th April 1919 when British official general Dyer ordered open fire on a group of people gathered to celebrate the festival of Baisakhi and some to protest peacefully against the arrest of 2 nationalist leaders. The passage ends onto a lush green lawn where the memorial stands tall, made in brick in the shape of a flame. The jyot in remembrance of the people who lost their lives, written ‘ Vande Matram ' on it made me bow my head in remembrance and dismay, but at the same time it also reminded me of the honour and courage of those either killed or injured.  But what moves you most is th

WORLD HEALTH DAY

Image
‘Health is Wealth’- there’s a reason why the age-old proverb still holds ground and will continue to do so forever. World Health Organisation (WHO) marks 7th April as the ‘ World Health Day ’ with this year’s theme being ‘building a fairer and healthier world’. The ongoing pandemic clearly highlighted the gruesome reality of unequal healthcare across the globe where a few have access to world class healthcare and the rest are devoid of even the basic healthcare requirements. This can only be resolved through better policies, no corruption and most importantly coming together as one in compassion. The pandemic also reminded us of the unparalleled significance and courage of healthcare workers throughout the world. Their relentless effort abled the world to get vaccinated against the deadly virus. World Health Day, once again, reminds us of the importance of mental health along with physical wellbeing. Stress, depression and anxiety are emerging as the leading cause of deaths all over.
