Do We Really Need Censorship ?

The main types of censorship in films: Are they even necessary ...

Censorship is a regulation imposed on a particular media, message, writing, etc. This censorship is imposed to restrict the spread of some particular content in audience which is considered to be unfit to be consumed by all. For a particular movie, it is given 4 types of Censor Certificate. These certificates are given to categorize the movies into different forms, so that the audience can also be categoroized.

Censorship is mainly applied to the movies to restrict their consumption from a particular set of audience. For example, the movies like "The Dirty Picture" contains the media content which is restricted for the children or inappropriate for the young children to consume, that is why the movie is certified with 'U Certificate' which clearly restricts the movie content to adults only, and showed the content  to be unfit for children or underage.

It is applied to movies mainly because movies gives the audience a different way of thinking, movies basically develops a certain thinking of an individual about a particular topic. The application of censorship is also correct on movies because the movies influence its audience in the most powerful way possible.

Censorship is not only limited to the adult or children content but it is also there with communities. If we talk about the movie released in 2017, "Padmavat", the movie has been in controversies and faced many protests for a longer time. The reason for the delay in the release of the movie was the scenes in the movie which were offensive to Rajput's community. This cutting of scenes again lead to many questions and clarification behind.

Censorship also cuts one of the major constitutional rights, that is the Right to Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Expressions to everyone. Everyone in this country is allowed or is free to express themselves the way they want to. There should be no restriction to their right. If someone wants to speak about the issue in some other way or to bring some important issue in the limelight, there should be no censorship on that. It is denial of right of expressions.
