Films releasing on OTT who will be at gaining end

It have been more than five months of the pandemic, and we are still not over of it. Everyone is facing so many problems and trying to cope up with all the unusual changes taking place due to this virus. The people living in higher societies to the people living at a lower level, everyone is affected by this pandemic at serious levels.
Even Bollywood industry is facing a lot of issues. They have their shoot pendings, actors are dropping out of the shows, their revenue is at high sake, the movies made are not being released due to the lockdown, etc.

In this hard phase of the pandemic, Over The Top or OTT platforms can be considered as a saviour to the industry. The filmmakers can release their movies on OTT and can still earn profit out of them. Many filmmakers have taken advantage of releasing their movies on OTT. We can take the example of Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer movie, "Gulabo Sitabo". This was one of the first films that did not followed the conventional theatrical release due to the Corona virus Lockdown.

The film was made at a budget of 40-45 Crore, but it is known to acquired Rs. 60 Crore at Amazon Prime Video. Most of the people think that the film would have never managed to make this kind of revenues. But, since it was released on OTT, it was eaily accessible to billions of people at their convenience, so most of the people watch the movie.

Where filmmakers are claiming that digitally releasing the film is the only option left for them, but, in reality, releasing movie digitally is a win-win condition for the movie with small budgets or mid budgets. This way, the smaller budget films may shift their release from theatres to OTTs.
But, the movies with big budgets, or big star  cast like Salman Khan and Shahrukh will not go for OTT too soon, as theatre itself will provide them with a revenue of Rs. 200 crore or more. This revenue can never be expected from OTT. So the big budgets films aspiring for revenue over Rs. 300 crore will prefer conventional theatre  release.
