Devotion Or Destruction

Ganesh Chaturthi...one of the biggest festivals in India.

After 10 days of Ganesh Chaturthi there will be immersion of Ganesha idol. People have started to prepare for the Ganapati visarjan. Devotees celebrate this prestigious festival with all possible means of loud music related to Ganesha. Like they have to show their love and devotion to all the people instead of god.

Besides this get ready to witness heavy traffic on the roads during the last day of the Ganesh festival. Which leads to an increase in air and noise pollution. Along with idols immersion, other accessories like flowers, plastic bags, fruits, clothes and other wastes pollute the water.

Experiencing all this only one thing came in my mind...this is devotion or destruction???
I never support such devotion that creates so many problems for others and harms our environment. Rituals of worship are not created by God but by humans. We can make changes in them to save our environment.

Why don’t we see the reason behind celebrating the festivals
Festivals are a celebration to remember the events occurred on that particular day. Different people of different religions, communities have different festivals and their reasons to celebrate them.

But with the changing world, celebrating festivals is not limited to its core cause, with time the reason for celebrations is modified.

They have become just an occasion of making noises and spreading an unpeaceful environment and disturbing the surroundings that disturbs nature as well.

Adapt the life-lessons from gods and thier festivals.

Do you have to adapt any of life-lesson that we can learn from Lord Ganesha???
Everyone is busy out there to prepare for the Ganpati visarjan..big idols are being made but have you tried to know what we can learn from Ganesha.

Should not we learn to give respect to your parents and giving them the supreme position in your life?
His big ears symbolize he is a good listener, his trunk always rolled up in a manner that symbolize that the power should always remain in control. all the power corrupts should learn from it not to use their power wrongly. And last but not least Ganesha chose a small mouse as his ride that teaches us to give huge respect to other creatures.

We should learn from every god and the festivals we are celebrating for them instead of disturbing the environment.

Celebrate eco-friendly festival
We can take a step at least towards this and should try to celebrate the eco-friendly Ganpati Festival.

We can use natural clay idols and can immerse it in the bucket at our home as it takes several hours to totally dissolve in water. We need not to stop celebrating the festival, we just need to change our rituals of worship to save our environment.

So this Ganpati let’s take an initiative to celebrate the festival without disturbing our surroundings.
